The Voice of the Great Spirit

Long ago, before the world was as it is now, the people lived among the trees, the rivers, and the mountains, seeing only what their eyes could see and hearing only the songs of the winds and the whispers of the animals. The Great Spirit Jehovih was there, but His presence was hidden, like the shadow of an eagle flying high above the clouds.

The people walked their paths without knowing who placed the stones beneath their feet or the sun above their heads. “The world is as it is,” they would say. “It is nature, it is law, it is instinct.” They did not yet see the hand of the Great Spirit moving through all things.

But among them were a few, a very few, who could feel something more. They would sit by the fire at night, looking into the dancing flames, and sense a Voice not heard by the ear but felt in the heart. These few would rise in the morning, call to the deer or the wolf, and say, “Great Spirit! Great Spirit!” Yet the animals would only tilt their heads, not understanding the words.

The Great Spirit saw this and stirred their hearts gently. “I do not teach through visions alone,” He said to them. “I am not far; I walk beside you.” He placed whispers in their spirits, small nudges that led them to wonder and question. They began to see that the river’s flow was not just water, that the mountains were not just stone, and that the songs of the winds carried meaning beyond words. Still, many others doubted. “Where is this Great Spirit?” they asked. “We see no shape, hear no voice.” But the Great Spirit spoke softly, “Do not judge the one who listens to Me simply because your ears do not hear. I am in the breath of the deer and the howl of the wolf. I guide their steps, not with words, but with My Spirit.”

As time passed, the whispers of the Great Spirit grew louder in the hearts of the people. More began to wake from their shadows. “No two eyes see My creation the same,” He told them. “Honour the gifts I have placed in each other. My helpers work through you, your brothers and sisters, to guide you on the path.” Some resisted, building walls around their hearts. “It is all a dream,” they said. But the Great Spirit swept away their doubt, showing them that He was as clear as the sunrise and as steady as the ground beneath their feet. “I am not hard to find,” He said. “My hand is open to all who reach for Me. My light shines for those who walk the highest path in their hearts.”

And so, the tribes of the earth began to awaken. They called to one another, “The Great Spirit is here! He walks with us!” No longer did they need to shout to the wolf or the deer to understand. The Spirit was within all, guiding their steps, opening their eyes, and filling their hearts with courage to walk the path laid before them.

The Great Spirit whispered once more, “I need no laws; I move through all things by My Spirit. Walk with Me, and soon, all the tribes will know Me. This is your journey. Walk it well.” And the people lifted their eyes to the skies, their spirits alive with the breath of the Great Spirit, knowing they were never alone.
