Extremes of Belief and Unbelief

Extremes of Belief and Unbelief

From the Oahspe Bible, the Book of Thor, Son of Jehovih 6:4 says:

“Jehovih said: All corporeal worlds pass through the age of too much belief. As I gave to man judgment, that he might examine and weigh a matter, so runneth he into unbelief. Then My angels go to him and show him wherein he believed too little; but, lo, he goeth to the other extreme, believing all things, and not using his judgment.”

It’s just like in today’s world, people either believe nothing or believe everything they hear. They don’t use the judgment given to them by their Creator. I think we can see this in both the secular and religious world. A lot of people believe everything they hear on the news or from pulpits in their churches. And even though Jehovih sends His messengers to help man gain at least some level of understanding, man still tends to go in reverse.

We need to learn how to use our faculties of judging between right and wrong, between true and false. Sometimes this requires us to take a middle ground so we aren’t going from one extreme to another. Judgment is a gift from the Creator and as such we should exercise the use of it properly. We can do this through prayer and meditation.

If I have doubts about something I have read in the Oahspe, I turn to Jehovih and ask Him to help me in my unbelief and to help me strengthen my faith in the truth revealed in Oahspe. Eventually the Great Spirit responds and assists in some way, either through something else I read in Oahspe Bible or through a message or comment given by a fellow Faithist. By this I know that Jehovih has helped and my faith is strengthened and my doubt is removed. (Compare Mark 9:23-25 from the New Testament)
